French wines sweep across London in January 2013

Throughout January 2013, London (UK) will play host to a range of events devoted to French wine.

Dec. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Throughout January 2013, London (UK) will play host to a range of events devoted to French wine. Held by various organisations, the events will showcase the wide variety of French wines and will include two general tastings, as well as 13 events centred on Burgundy wine. British wine professionals and members of the media will have the opportunity to experience the acknowledged and remarkable diversity of France’s wines.

Please see below for a list of the French-wine-related events that will take place in London throughout January 2013. For each event, we have given the name of the organisers, the area covered, the date, and the person to contact.  Further details are available upon request from Katherine Woods, Press Officer of the French Trade Commission UBIFRANCE in London.

•The 2011 Chablis vintage will be introduced to wine professionals and journalists by 13 vineyard owners and members of the Union des Grands Crus de Chablis. Founded in March 2000, the organisation has been holding annual wine-tastings in London since 2007.

•From 7 to 15 January 2013, a selection of British importers of Burgundy wines are organising numerous vintage-wine tastings at various venues across central London: the tastings will cover production years 2010 and 2011.

•Two events are set to take place in January 2013 that will showcase wines from across all France’s wine-growing regions.

15 January: French Independent Winegrowers, 10.00 am to 6.00pm, Royal Horticultural Halls, London (lysanne.desroches@ubifrance.fr)

A total of 80 independent French winegrowers from every major wine-growing region of the country are expected at the Royal Horticultural Halls on 15 January. For the past three years, this event has been organised by the French Trade Commission UBIFRANCE in partnership with the Fédération des Vignerons Indépendants (the National Federation of Independent Winegrowers of France). This year, the emphasis will be placed on terroir wines, highlighting producers with a strong identity — characteristics that are regularly sought after by British wine professionals.

16 January: French Wine Discoveries, 10.00am to 6.00pm, Lord’s Cricket Ground, London (anne.vigouroux@wine4trade.fr)

Organised by Wine4Trade for the 11th edition, this professional wine tasting will gather 90 producers from most of the French wine regions, with a great choice of wine appellations. Throughout the day, buyers and journalists will have the opportunity to meet the producers at Lord's Cricket Ground, a famous venue in central London.
