FIAT of Chicago Announces the Debut of the All-Electric Fiat 500 at the LA Auto Show
The iconic Fiat 500 reaches an all-electric status, making its mark in the growing class of electric subcompact cars.
Below is a brief look at what the all-electric FIAT 500 seeks to offer:
· Under the Hood:
Loaded with a 111-hp 83 KW electric motor with a 24 KWH liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack. The battery has the ability to reach a full recharge in just 4 hours through its on-board 6.6KW charger when using 240 volts.
· Gas Mileage:
In every-day conditions, drivers can get an estimated 80 miles of range while city-only cruising could bump up the driving range to 100 miles. An estimated per gallon equivalent is 116 city/100 highway.
· Unique Features:
New exterior choices are on the horizon, such as “electric orange”, and the 500E will sport newly enhanced aerodynamics as well as 15-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch display, optional navigation, and even a snazzy smartphone app. A trendy new eSport package will also be available with treats such as stylishly blacked out trim.
The new all-electric FIAT 500E was meticulously designed to meet the mandated zero-emissions in the state of California, and will go on sale there sometime in 2013. Although the price tag has yet to be released, many are speculating that its sticker will be comparable to the Chevy Spark EV tag of $32,500.
