Lennar San Antonio Debuts NextGen–The Home Within a Home Plan for Multi-Generational Living

Dec. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Lennar San Antonio debuts the first of its innovative NextGen –The Home Within a Home floor plans the weekend of December 15th-16th in Alamo Ranch.

Lennar developed the NextGen concept in response to the changing needs of its homebuyers and to address the growing trend of multiple generations sharing a home. Lennar is the first homebuilder in the country and in San Antonio to design floor plans specifically for this new trend.

“The number of multi-generational households in the U.S. has increased by 60 percent since 1990, as adult children continue to live with their parents, sometimes with children of their own or as elderly parents move in with their children,” Tony Cerna, III, Director of Sales and Marketing for Lennar San Antonio, said. “We are extremely excited to bring this ‘never before seen’ floor plan to the area.”

Differing from homes with two master bedrooms, Lennar’s new NextGen homes feature a private living space — a full suite separated from the main living area for parents, grandparents, an adult child or even long term guests — with its own entrance but also including a door to the main home. The private suite includes a living area, bedroom, full bathroom and kitchenette.

“Family members can choose to be together, or they can simply enjoy their own private space,” Cerna said. “The plan’s flexibility offers the best of both worlds.”

According to Lennar, after conducting much research and seeing a rising need for this type of living situation, the homebuilder decided to design a distinctive floor plan that can accommodate different living arrangements while still providing great use of space, square footage and, most importantly, privacy.

Cerna said Lennar’s NextGen homes have proved popular throughout the country.

“Lennar has sold more than 400 NextGen homes nationwide, and we’re only getting started here in the San Antonio region,” Cerna said.

The one-story Hilltop showcase home at Alamo Ranch offers 2,697 square feet, which includes 3 bedrooms and two baths in the main home and a private bedroom and bath in the NextGen suite. This home currently starts from $268,900.

Lennar San Antonio will initially build NextGen plans in Alamo Ranch and soon in its Village Builders community of Windgate Ranch and looks to offer the plans in other communities around San Antonio in the near future.
