Magical Kashmir Opens its Arms
Following the recent change in FCO advice to say that Kashmir is now safe to travel to again, Chameleon Worldwide has created the ultimate itinerary to get the very best out of this magical destination in just 10 days.
It is surrounded by some of the most stunning scenery on earth including two dramatic Himalayan ranges, the Great Himalayan Range and the Pir Panjal, surrounding the landscape from the north and south respectively, and earning Kashmir its legendary reputation for beauty and tranquillity.
With the recent change in travel advice from the Foreign Office, confirming that Kashmir is once again safe to visit, Chameleon Worldwide has created the ultimate 10-day itinerary which includes all the highlights that this mystical land has to offer with a chance to enjoy treks, tranquil boat rides and visit ancient temples, whilst absorbing the rich culture and fascinating history this country has to offer along the way.
Comments Mark Wright, Founder of Chameleon Worldwide: “Our local partners in India are originally from Kashmir and we are delighted that they can once again proudly show their homeland to visitors from the UK.”
The adventure commences in the bustling town of Delhi with a chance to explore before heading off the following morning. The contrast from the cacophony of Delhi couldn’t be greater; on arrival you are transferred to one of Kashmir’s famous houseboats, on Dal Lake, for three nights. Later in the day there will be a short shikara ride (traditional rowing boat, with crew) on the lake before returning to the houseboat for tea on the terrace.
Other activities whilst based in Dal Lake include the floating vegetable market at Srinagar (arriving by shikara), the famous Mughal Gardens – with their terraced lawns, cascading fountains and paint-box-bright flowerbeds – and an excursion to Pahalgam, for nature walks alongside the streams with an option to go horse riding or white-water rafting.
The next three days will be spent exploring the area by shikara, spending two nights camping on the banks of Lake Wular and Lake Manasbal, sleeping under the stars, before returning to the houseboat for the final two nights and a chance to visit Shankracharya temple, Jama Mosque, Hazratbal Shrine and finally Hari Parbat Fort.
The holiday costs from £1725 per person (two sharing) which includes flights, all transportation, 9-nights’ accommodation, most meals, activities as detailed and the services of a tour leader/guide.
