Steel in the Ground and Transformative Technologies Take Centre Stage at World Biofuels Markets

Event brings together the leaders of leading advanced biofuels companies commercialising the industry and breaking ground

Dec. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- (December 4, 2012) LONDON – The news last week that Dupont has broken ground on the world’s largest biorefinery is yet another positive story for the advanced biofuels industry.  Expected to be completed in mid-2014; the new facility produce cellulosic ethanol from corn stover.  This follows news earlier this year that POET-DSM had broken ground on their first commercial–scale, cellulosic ethanol plant scheduled to begin operations in Iowa in 2013.  Stories like these and many other from KiOR and Beta Renewables show the industry really is touching commercial scale.

Join us at World Biofuels Markets 2013 (http://www.worldbiofuelsmarkets.com/) to hear from Dupont and DSM as well as UPM who laid the foundation stone of the world’s first biorefinery producing wood-based renewable diesel in Finland last month. Construction began last summer and the biorefinery will start producing renewable diesel made from tall oil in 2014.

“The race is on to bring these breakthrough fuels out of the labs and demonstration plants into full commercial scale, and we’re bringing together the people that areleading that charge,” said Claire Poole, Head of Biofuels at Green Power Conferences. “It’s great to see so many companies breaking ground and nearing completion on facilities that will bring millions of gallons of clean, renewable fuels online in the coming years.”

These industry leaders will be joined by pioneering advanced biofuels companies that are creating technologies, processes and partnerships that enable biofuels production at scale including Lanzatech, Butamax, Envergent Technologies, Clariant Biotech and many more.

Sessions at the Advanced Biofuels Conference at World Biofuels Markets will cover the most pressing topics facing the industry including policy, the race for scale, partnerships, transformative technologies and a global round up of the key industry happenings.  As the bio-based industry continues toevolve, and given the ease with which bio-based hydrocarbon producers can switch between production of advanced biofuels and commodity chemicals, attendees of the World Biofuels Markets congress may also be interested in joining our Biobased Chemicals congress (www.worldbiofuelsmarkets.com/biochem)

World Biofuels Markets, organised by Green Power Conferences, will be held on March 12-14 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The dedicated Waste and Residue Feedstocks day will take place on March 14.
