Golden Chick Gives Away $25,000 Grand Prize to One Lucky Duck

Dec. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- (Dallas, Texas) December 4, 2012 – The results are in for Golden Chick’s summer giveaway, and the winner of the $25,000 grand prize is… Alexander Watson of Lockhart, Texas! Watson “came on down” to the Lockhart Golden Chick on Nov. 20 to collect his larger than life check and shake hands with the franchise owner, Bo Stover and the chain’s Chairman of the Board Mark Parmerlee.

Watson, who lives just south of Lockhart on a ranch in Luling, frequents the Lockhart Golden Chick almost every day. Watson works across the street as a sales manager at AutoZone, so he pops over to Golden Chick on his break to get a fix of iced tea.

“I love Golden Chick’s iced tea. I probably drink gallons of it every week! Me and my buddy go all the time and also get their meal deals. We know just about everyone who works there by name,” said Watson.

Watson hasn’t quite decided what to do with his mega-size check yet, but he has a feeling there might be a new set of wheels in his future and he may also restart his education. His current SUV is a gas guzzler, and something more fuel efficient would be better suited to all the driving he does.

Watson might also leverage his dollars in the stock market, a hobby he’s enjoyed since he was just 13 years old.

The Golden Chick summer giveaway doled out $25,000 to one lucky winner, Watson, as well as $1,000 cash prizes to five other lucky ducks.

The promotion ran for three months, and participants could enter by filling out a simple form in the restaurants. Participants could enter every time they visited the store up to once a day, with no limits on how many entry forms they could fill out over the three months.

Given the number of entries, the odds weren’t in Watson’s favor. “My friend filled out a form every time he visited and kept telling me to enter, but I didn’t. I only filled out one form, and I wrote it so fast they almost couldn’t read my handwriting. I didn’t want to use up my good luck by filling out too many—I guess I’m just superstitious sometimes,” said Watson.

Judging by Watson’s new giant check, his theory on harboring his luck was spot on.
