Streets of downtown Tampa to be transformed into Golf driving range as part of Tampa Tee Off!

Dec. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Tampa, Fla. (November 28, 2012) – To kick off the holiday season, business executives, families and visitors to the downtown Tampa area are invited to an exciting interactive golfing experience, the Tampa Tee Off, as the streets of downtown will be transformed into a self-contained golf driving range.  Presented by Edwin Watts Golf, one of the world’s premier specialty golf retailers, the Tampa Tee Off will be held Friday, December 14, 2012, from 11 a.m. through 9 p.m. on the 500 & 600 blocks of Franklin Street.  Mayor Bob Buckhorn will conduct a ceremonial first tee-off at 11 a.m.

Tampa Tee Off is free and open to the public.  Throughout the day, participants will have an opportunity to test their golfing acumen at a 4200 sq. ft. urban driving range, while surrounded by the skyscrapers and office buildings of downtown Tampa.  Buckets of balls will be sold throughout the day, and proceeds will support Special Olympics Hillsborough.  In addition, the self-contained driving range will be outfitted with pre-set targets, whereby consumers will have an opportunity to hit targets for a chance to win a number of exciting prizes.

Consumers can visit any of the three Edwin Watts Golf stores in the Tampa/Brandon area to pick up valuable coupons that will enable them to purchase two buckets of balls for the price of one on the day of the event.  

“The Watts Guys,” custom fitting experts from Edwin Watts Golf, and representatives from the leading equipment and accessories brands including TaylorMade, Callaway, Adams and Oakley, will be on-site to assist golfers of all skills levels, while providing a unique demo experience.  In fact, Tampa Tee Off participants will be the first consumers to test out an assortment of 2013 golf products that have yet to hit the marketplace.  

Using an intricate system of nets and lifts, this temporary structure will be erected beginning at 6 a.m.  A media preview will begin at 10 a.m., and the event will run from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.  Attendees will also enjoy entertainment throughout the day, as Tampa Downtown Partnership’s Lunch on the Lawn will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Additionally, live music will take place during happy hour from 5 p.m. to close.
