Dec. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Aqua Babies, one of the most long-established providers of baby-swimming classes in the North West, has seen its business activity grow by an incredible ten to fifteen per cent per year since the recession began, according to founder and director Wendy Edmondson.

The Sale Moor-based company which provides swimming courses for babies aged from four months and four years, across Greater Manchester has also announced a major expansion into Cheshire to bring the benefits of their highly popular courses to a new audience.

“Growth has been steady over the past four years and shows no sign of slowing down,” said mum-of-two Wendy, who started the business as a single mum nearly 14 years ago. “In fact, at this moment in time we have more mums and babies on our books than we have ever had in the past.

“Recession or no recession, mums and dads are continuing to invest in swimming courses which we believe offer mums and their babies a great many benefits. In addition to the obvious advantages of introducing youngsters to water at an early age, scientific research suggests this sort of activity is helpful in many ways.

“Some research also suggests this type of activity can even have a beneficial effect on brain activity. The classes themselves can play a role in enabling youngsters to build self-esteem and even improve social interaction.

“So I guess it is not surprising that mums and dads are prepared to prioritise their children’s Aqua Babies lessons as an essential part of growing up.”

The decision by Aqua Babies to expand into Cheshire after 13 years operating courses at pools from Hale and Altrincham to Oldham comes at a time when the company is determined to offer its expertise to a new audience, explained Wendy.

“We must have taught thousands of Greater Manchester babies to swim since we launched the business, so we know the level of demand,” added the fully trained Primary and Early Years teacher who decided to swap the classroom for the swimming pool in 1999.

Aqua Babies, the first baby swim school to be awarded the Swimming Teachers’ Association accreditation, have a nine-strong team of teachers who currently run baby-swim classes across Greater Manchester, using swimming pools in the city centre and beyond.
