Birmingham City Council has achieved great engagement and spend levels just one year on since the launch of their employee benefits programme ‘My Birmingham Rewards’.
The scheme, supplied by Asperity Employee Benefits, provides employees with over 3,000 offers at leading brand products and services, like Sainsbury’s, Argos, B&Q, Boots and House of Fraser. Employees have already saved over one hundred thousand pounds- with total spend already reaching over £1.5 million.
BCC also pioneered employee discounts with a hundreds of local retailers, so that their staff could benefit from local everyday savings. As a result, local businesses have benefitted from increased sales from the offers that are communicated weekly to the whole workforce.
The council has an incredibly large and diverse workforce, with over 48,000 staff in 600 locations. BCC’s aim was to provide a benefits programme that reached out to all corners of their workforce.
“We chose Asperity because of their passion and dedication to employee engagement” confirmed Raffaela Goodby, Head of Engagement at BCC. “We were also incredibly impressed by their flexibility around tailoring the programme to match BCC’s objectives.”
As ‘My Birmingham Rewards’ approaches its first anniversary, it has proven to be an overwhelming success. The scheme was nominated for the ‘Most effective programme launch campaign’ at the 2012 Benefits Excellence Awards and was a finalist at The Personnel Today Awards 2012.
