-- Former Prime Minister I K Gujral, was died on Friday after a brief illness. He was admitted at Mendata Hospital in Gurgaon, Haryana, on November 19, 2012, after being diagnosed with lung infection. He had suffered a serious chest infection a few days before. On November 27, he fell unconscious and his urine output system stopped working.
The 92 aged men, had participated in India’s freedom struggle, and was put in jail by the British in 1942, during the Quit India Movement. Gujral always speaks Urdu, and hence he was declared as a lover of that language by The Maulana Azad National Urdu University, it’s an educational institute where he held the position of Chancellor.
His wife, Sheila Gujral was a famous poet and also written several books in Punjabi, Hindi and English languages. She died on July 11, 2011. His brother Satish Gujral is a painter and architect. Gujral has two sons, Naresh Gujral and Vishal Gujral.Naresh is an member of Rajya Sabha.
Gujral actually migrated to India from Pakistan. He was educated at DAV College of commerce and Forman Christian College, Lahore (at present it is in Pakistan). Gujral always took active part in politics in college.
He had a very long innings in national politics; he also helped Indra Gandhi to become Prime minister in 1966. He had fought for India’s freedom, and served our country for many years.
