Nov. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- PITTSBURGH  --  Animal Nature is pleased to present a small exhibition by award-winning New Jersey-based pastelist Beth Lowell, on view from December 1, 2012 to May 1, 2013. Rodents Invade Pittsburgh is the first in a series of exhibitions of pastel paintings that celebrates the big personalities of small animals.

Lowell began painting dogs in 2008 and joined the Canine Art Guild. Her repertoire soon grew to include cats, farm friends like cows and hens, wildlife and now small animals, an underserved niche in the pet portrait arena.

Beth was commissioned to paint a picture of hen Lola for Rachel Lamory, co-owner of Animal Nature in fall of 2012. The two subsequently collaborated to create a show devoted solely to small animals, a niche underserved in the pet portraiture arena.

“We have had lots of artists send work of dogs and cats, but no small animals…and we have SUCH a huge small animal following!”   Rachel Lamory – co-owner Animal Nature, says.

Lowell is a member of the Canine Art Guild, The Pastel Society of New Jersey and  is listed in the Directory of the WomenArts Network.
