Luxury Parfumerie & Boutique, Tijon, opens 1st U.S. location in La Jolla, California
The community of La Jolla welcomed its first parfumerie today with the opening of Tijon, a luxury parfumerie and boutique featuring perfume workshops, handcrafted fragrances, and natural skincare products.
“For years, our customers from our flagship store in St. Martin asked us to open an American store in an equally beautiful seaside community,” said John Berglund, Tijon co-owner and perfumer. “I knew of La Jolla from my days at USD, and we felt La Jolla was the ideal location for Tijon.”
Tijon offers San Diego’s only perfume “Make Your Own” workshops, whereby guests can choose from over 300 oils to create custom fragrances. “Groups of girlfriends, bridal parties, corporate teams, and even men love our three or one hour workshops,” added Rachelle Crumrine, President of Tijon USA. “Everyone leaves with his or her own bottle of perfume or cologne, along with a Tijon gift bag and the knowledge of how intricate and diverse layers of scents are.”
Similar to the St. Martin location, Tijon La Jolla features 18 fine perfumes and colognes known as “The Fragrances of the French Caribbean.” Sunscreens, lotions, and cosmetics, all made in the on-site St. Martin lab, are also available for purchase. Inspired by the verdant, natural Caribbean, Tijon’s scents and skin-care products combine fragrant oils distilled from locally cultivated exotic flowers such as jasmine, gardenia, and frangipani and botanical extracts such as aloe vera, polypodium papaya, and rosemary with the world’s finest perfume oils.
