Ipswich resident Muayyd Mohammed with his winning Christmas card design.
-- Support worker Muayyd Mohammed, who cares for older people in the Ipswich area, has won a national competition to design Care UK’s 2012 Christmas card.
His beautiful Christmas scene, which he completed in just 45 minutes, was voted number one out of over 130 entries. Most amazing of all is that Muayyd only took up painting a year ago and has had no formal artistic training.
Every year Care UK invites employees and customers to take part in their ‘design a Christmas card’ competition and Muayyad’s design is now being printed on nearly 19,000 cards which will be sent to customers, partner organisations and contacts across the country
All Care UK employees were invited to vote for their favourite design using Facebook and Muayyd’s clever woodland scene was the overwhelming favourite.
Muayyd Mohammed said: “I wanted to learn how to paint so I could have a new hobby. I used online guides and tutorials to practise the different techniques. People seem to like the paintings I’ve been doing and I’ve been able to put some of them into local exhibitions too.”
He added: “I am very pleased to have been selected as the Christmas card competition winner for Care UK and I hope everyone who receives the card will like my design.”
