Nov. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- (MOSCOW, ID) – Calling all treasure hunters on the Palouse!  Local downtown retailers have joined forces this holiday season to bring a unique treasure hunting experience with real prizes to the Palouse.   Those who have been following NW Gold Rush on Facebook are already familiar with the NW Gold Rush Treasure Hunt and the cryptic clues provided daily that have led to real gold and silver.  Now to celebrate Christmas shopping, NW Gold Rush is providing clues to what may be the broadest treasure hunt ever on the Palouse.

Each sponsoring business is providing a prize valued around 50 dollars.  Participating businesses include, NW Gold Rush Bucer’s,  Camas Prairie Winery, Paradise Creek Bicycles, Sisters’ Brew, Moscow Food-Coop, Hodgins Drug, 2nd Chance Pawn, Precision Engraving Gifts and Awards, Alliance Home Management, Hansel & Gretel, The Storm Cellar, Peck’s Shoe Clinic, North Idaho Athletic Club, Nuart Theater, Empower Marketing,  and the Moscow Chamber of Commerce.  Prizes include: gift certificates to the sponsoring businesses and a grand prize of one-quarter ounce of gold valued at over $450 dollars as of today.

The first clues will be announced on December 3rd on NW Gold Rush’s Facebook page.  Clues will also be announced and passed out along the Light Up The Night Holiday Parade on December 5th in downtown Moscow.  Treasure hunters will be searching for medallions hidden on public lands and in parks throughout Moscow.  They will watch for clues posted at several downtown businesses and online at facebook.com/NWGoldRush.  NW Gold Rush has ordered several specially printed medallions for this event, each specially marked to represent a unique prize. If you find one of the medallions, bring it to NW Gold Rush at 107 E. 2nd Street to claim your prize.

So how big is this really?  One woman claims that her husband was searching in a local park at midnight so that other treasure seekers wouldn’t be watching him.  Another woman talks about her family leaving the site to return later because they saw two other families searching in the vicinity.  Perhaps the most unique story is about two friends who climbed a tree at 1:30 in the morning because they didn’t want to do it during the day and tip off others.  While these folks have been searching at night, “I wouldn’t recommend holding off until night because there will be so many people searching during the Holidazzle.” says NW Gold Rush Owner and Holidazzle planner, Troy Zakariasen.  “With this many people searching, if you wait until dark, you’ll probably miss it.”
