Beauty is only skin deep...or that's what some say. Most of the time, this is true, beauty is skin deep, you could be drop dead gorgeous and have a hideous personality, and be ugly. But on a less metaphorical note, beauty really is important, to an extent.

So Simone, What Is It That Makes Us Like & Strive For Beauty So Much?

Nature. It's every animals’ instinct to mate with the best, to create the best offspring, and that's what beauty is. The human nature sees someone who's perfectly symmetrical as beautiful because that signifies a healthy human being. Most people tend to stray from those with a physical appearance of un healthiness, or "ugly". Of course, not everyone will stay away from someone just because they're ugly to someone else. It is certainly possible for someone to be attracted to physical imperfections; it's just human nature to strive for perfection.

So Why Is Make Up So Important Simone?

No one is perfect, and everyone knows that. But many people try to be perfect, with implants, surgeries and gimmicks trying to say they'll make you look younger or better, but the most common way for someone to try to create the illusion of perfection is with makeup. Whether you're aware of it or not, whether you want to believe it or not, it is true. Makeup is used to make us feel better about ourselves. What's my point? Well it's only natural for someone to want to wear makeup, and though there are people who believe that it's just someone being self centred or other stereotypical thoughts that go along with people who wear makeup, just know, it's totally normal and it's actually natural.

Simone, Are There Any Make Up Perils Lurking Our There That We Should Know About?

You naively wear your favourite makeup hoping to make yourself more attractive with no notion of the hazardous ingredients lurking in your preferred brand of makeup. Yes, just as you read packaged food ingredients to make sure they are wholesome and nutritious, you must also be vigilant when sorting out the best makeup ingredients for your skin, given that your skin absorbs into your bloodstream everything you put on it. Your health depends on you putting the best ingredients on your skin.

The culprits to watch out for that are known to irritate skin, cause cancer and impair immune systems are alpha hydroxyl acids, formaldehyde, coal tar, mineral oil, talc, silica, sodium lauryl sulfate, benzene, propylene glycol and even some ingredients in popular perfume brands. Here at MWAH we do exactly that. We encourage our clients to bring in their makeup bags when they come in for make over’s or make up lessons so we can go through them with them and explain in more detail how to use their make up properly and identify anything in their makeup bag which may be causing a problem now or in the future.

Even the common soaps that claim to cleanse your skin have perfumes and deodorants that clog pores and will prevent your skin from breathing. Remember your skin is an organ of elimination; it is meant to sweat and elegantly remove toxins circulating in your bloodstream.

A number of organic and natural skin care companies are aware of these skin-care dangers lurking in popular skin care products and makeup woes. They are making it their quest to produce more skin-friendly products and inoffensive makeup. We try and educate our clients when they come in to see us.  Your skin will age less over time and maintain a healthy glow if you are using the right products on it. If it is not feasible for you to have a professional make over, then make sure the skin-care products you use are not carcinogenic or hormone disrupting. This includes the shampoos and hair colouring products you regularly use, too.

So Simone, What Products Do You Use At MWAH?
We use products from the Youngblood Range. It is a mineral make up developed by a lady called Pauline Youngblood Soli, who is a pioneer in her industry. She developed her first products in her range in a medical setting, aimed specifically for patients recovering from harsh medical procedures, such as laser and chemical peels, surgeries and even cancer treatments. Her patients experienced such dramatic success that they continued using her formula long after their skin had healed, and urged her to make it commercially available. Here at MWAH we like to use high quality products on our clients. Indeed we have many clients who are undergoing cancer treatment and suffer hair loss and we don’t encourage the use of chemicals. Part of what we do here at MWAH is confidence building; we help people with their confidence issues. When you have confidence you are much more likely to be healthy too!
So Simone, What Is So Good About Youngblood?
Youngblood is the premier mineral cosmetic line available. From the moment you start using the products you will notice the incredibly silky feel and you will notice the natural finish it gives you, it truly is unlike any other make up product you have ever tried. It is incredibly lightweight, allowing your skin to breathe and more importantly it is non comedogenic, meaning it won’t block your pores or cause you skin irritation. It has a flawless coverage but leaves you feeling like you are wearing no makeup at all, instead allowing you to naturally radiate a healthy glow. We are very fussy here at MWAH about the products we use and the services we offer. Youngblood has set the standard in the market place, that is why we partner with them and this is why you will only see their products being used in upscale skin clinics and med spas around the world and why top quality makeup artists use it.
So you give Make Up Lessons too Simone?
Yes we give one on one make up lessons, or you can bring a friend and you can learn a look for day and a look for night. Another one of our popular requests is the Maturing Beauty lessons for 40+ years of age. Some ladies find it difficult making the transition from leaving their 30’s and moving into their 40’s. Your skin changes with age and it’s a new learning curve when it comes to applying makeup correctly to accentuate and compliment. It’s a fantastic feeling when you are able to help people adjust and to build confidence in their own natural beauty. We can spend so much time and money trying to halt the aging process; it’s great to embrace it too!
What Other Make Up Requests Are Popular At MWAH?
Bridal Make up is probably the most popular, followed by our Make Over’s and Make Up Bag SOS – our make over’s are £40 but then we give you £15 to spend on Youngblood products or our skin care dermalogica products and free samples so it’s a great offer and incentive. Our make over’s are really popular for ladies going on a hot date or have a special occasion to celebrate. Our Makeup lessons and Hen Night parties are also very popular. We have also done some transvestite make over’s, here at MWAH we do not judge. Make up is our passion and is art!

If it's your first time at MWAH, arrive at least 10 minutes early to complete the necessary forms. Otherwise, arrive 5 minutes early so you can have a few minutes to rest and relax before starting your makeup lesson or make over. Don’t forget to bring your make up bag with you so we can go through it with you.

If you require further information on any make up treatments available, or wish to book an appointment, please call Simone at MWAH on 01202 760003 or look at the website www.mwahbournemouth.co.uk
