-- In an effort to help end hunger in Southwest Florida, Pushing the Envelope, Inc. recently hosted their 2nd Annual CAN IT!, a food drive – doubling their goal from last year to 1,000 items.
With support from many community members and businesses, the goal was exceeded by nearly 20%! Approximately 1,180 items were collected during the five-week campaign and donated to Community Cooperative Ministries, Inc. (CCMI) for their soup kitchen and emergency food supplies.
According to CCMI, “on average, a 30lb bag of food is provided to families. The estimated 1,200 lbs of food donated through the CAN IT! Campaign will feed about 40 families (depending of family size

CCMI serves Fort Myers and the greater Lee County area, providing meals each month through their Soup Kitchen and Meals on Wheels programs. The nonprofit agency also educates 40 children in their Community Montessori Preschool, provides weekend backpacks full of food to more than 2,500 children each school year and oversees a mobile food pantry as well as an everyday choice marketplace.
