Two Signature Artists Are Chosen For the 2013 Coral Springs Festival of the Arts Festival
9th Anniversary of The Coral Springs Festival of the Arts takes place March 16-17 2013
As is traditional with The Coral Springs Festival of the Arts event, a local signature artist is selected and their winning picture is chosen to promote the event’s branding. Interestingly, for the first time, two signature artists have been selected; one to promote the Festival and the other to promote the City’s 50th year anniversary.
One of the joint winners, Isabel Perez, created ‘The Florida Birds’ painting. Laurianne McDonald, Signature Artist Chair has known Isabel Perez for the last five years. Commenting on her success, she said, “I had no doubt that Isabel would make a name for herself very soon. She is dedicated and generous with her talent and time, as well as a truly inspired artist. I am glad to know her and have watched her career blossom”.
“The large number of bird species in Florida with their variety of colors and sizes inspired me to create my winning painting for The Coral Springs Festival of the Arts”, says artist Isabel Perez. “Every morning, I can hear and see all the different kinds of birds, from the blue jay, the Ibis, the white egret, the mockingbird, to the blue heron, and they are really close to me. I only need to open the door to enjoy and appreciate all the magnificent species of birds. It was a great way to express my view of Florida through my paintings and other artworks. After five years living in Coral Springs, I feel the City is my home and the perfect place to raise my family where nature and human cohabit in equilibrium”
The other winning artist is Ezi Algazi, currently President of Coral Springs Artist Guild. Commenting on his picture, Ezi Algazi said, “For this year's Festival of the Arts competition I wanted to do something special to commemorate Coral Springs' 50th anniversary. This is a very special City to me with many beautiful landmarks. Having driven around for many weeks and taken hundreds of photographs, back in my studio, they were pieced together to create the perfect composition that reflects some of the best of Coral Springs. It's a great honor to be selected as one of Coral Springs Festival of the Arts signature artists. Festival of the Arts is a great event, and I am looking forward to spending the time at the Artist Guild tent and talking with many local residents”.
T-shirts with Ezi’s 50th Anniversary picture will be available for purchase at the Festival for $15. There will also be posters on sale of the Florida birds for $10. Both can be ordered by going to the website, http://www.csfoa.org and putting in an inquiry under contact us or call 954-340-5992 and leave a message. Every year there is a “call to artist” for submissions. Once all the artists have submitted their work, they are viewed and voted in front of the Coral Springs Festival of the Arts Executive Board. To be completely fair and impartial, there are no names against the artwork. Once the artwork is decided, that specific artist is notified. If you are interested in submitting your artwork for the 2014 Festival of The Arts Signature Artist Competition, please go to www.csfoa.org for the submission guidelines. Artwork will be accepted from January 2013 through September 2013. “It’s an exciting time for artists living in Coral Springs as alongside this competition, there is also the annual scholarship program organized by the Coral Springs Artist Guild award”, says Laurianne McDonald, Signature Artist Chair.
Now is the time to ‘Save the Date’. Please put in your calendar the weekend of March 16-17 for the Coral Springs Festival of the Arts.
