Orange County Facial Plastic Surgeon Performs the most advanced facial fat grafting techniques
Dr. Kevin Sadati, a board-certified Orange County facial plastic surgeon, is an expert in the field of fat grafting and has introduced a unique procedure for superior results.
"I wanted to provide my patients with long-lasting results, but also utilize the most natural materials in the course of their surgeries," said Dr. Sadati, who is a board certified facial plastic surgeon that specializes in fat grafting. "Whether a patient requires reconstructive surgery after an auto accident or burn incident, or a patient wants to restore that youthful look to their face, we have found that when Platelet Rich Plasma is added to autologous fat that the results are extremely positive. This research has revolutionized this common cosmetic surgery procedure."
Autologous fat is fat cells that are taken from a patient's own body, often from other areas where they want to reduce the amount of fatty tissue. In addition, PRP is harvested from a person's own body. Prior to the surgery, the patient will give a blood sample in the office. Dr. Sadati's staff will prepare the sample, extracting the PRP from the blood and turning it into a gel form. Once the surgery has begun, liposuction will be performed on the area where there is unwanted fat. The PRP in gel form is then added to the autologous fat that has been harvested. From there, the surgeon is able to perform the graft.
"This technique works with a person's body to ensure that the body accepts the fat graft and transfer," Dr. Sadati said. "In addition to a better rate of graft survival, this unique addition of PRP has also shown a reduced amount of swelling and bruising in patients after the procedure is complete. We have seen nothing but positive results from using PRP in combination with autologous fat during fat transfer procedures."
While patients will continue to be monitored by Dr. Sadati and his staff, the immediate results have shown that this is a great alternative to the previous fat grafting techniques. Successful procedures that have included PRP include lips, breasts and nasolabial folds. Other surgery options are available, and Dr. Sadati works with his patients to develop a custom plan of action for them. Together they decide which procedure will work best for their ultimate goals.
Dr. Sadati's research regarding the use of PRP during fat transfer procedures has been published in the Journal of American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery — a prestigious medical journal that publishes only the most groundbreaking findings in the cosmetic surgery industry. This published paper was awarded the best scholarly manuscript research paper award in 2006 at an industry meeting, the American Academy of Scientific Meeting. In addition, his findings have been presented at the American Osteopathic Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery conference for three years — 2007, 2010 and 2011. Cosmetic surgeons from across the globe continue to be impressed with the research, findings and patient results.
