By: WildHearts Squads of Santas will descend upon the North of Scotland over the coming weeks as both the Granite City and Highland Capital host the WildHearts Santa Runs. First off the blocks is the Inverness Santa Run on Sunday December 2nd, swiftly followed by Aberdeen’s very own Santa Run on Sunday the 9th. Both events aim to kick off the festive period with a bang! A favourite fixture of the cities Winter Festivals, the Santa Runs see friends, families and office teams taking part in the fun runs with a festive twist. Participants are invited to walk, jog or run around the 5km route wearing Santa Suits provided by organisers WildHearts to ensure they look the part! Children will be able to participate too – as ‘Wee Santas’ decked out in special Santa t-shirts and hats – and enjoy kicking off the festive period with their families. ‘Santas’ from across the North of Scotland and beyond have been dashing to register, with entries coming in from across the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire by the sleigh load. Both events kick off at 1pm, with the Inverness leg of the Santa Run held at Inverness Leisure and the Aberdeen event hosted by AFC at Pittodrie. Monies raised will be invested by WildHearts in micro-finance projects around the developing world, helping people to work their own way out of poverty and create sustainable futures for their families and communities. WildHearts also provide entrepreneurial training and enterprise education in schools across Scotland. WildHearts founder Mick Jackson said: “Here at WildHearts the Santa Run is our favourite time of year. It’s fantastic to get together with our supporters, make new friends and raise money for a fabulous cause. It’s also the most fun way to kick off Christmas, earning you the right to a guilt free Christmas pudding!” The entry fee for the events – which includes a Santa suit to make sure all participants are festively prepared, a medal and a goody bag – is £15 for adults and £10 for under 13s, who receive a special Santa t-shirt and hat.
