Nov. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- The personal injury lawyers Wright & McGurk have been retained to protect the rights of the Lamas family who suffered a double homicide home invasion at the hands of their mentally unstable neighbor. Wright & McGurk is seeking to protect the rights of the family and to offer the relief that this grieving family needs.
On October 20, the Lamas family awoke before dawn to their neighbor, Desmond Moses, wearing body armor and brandishing a .38 revolver. Scheduled for eviction, Moses set his bungalow on fire and fired shots at the Lamas family who occupied the neighboring triplex unit. After several years of living rent free, Moses allegedly believed the Lamas family to be responsible for his eviction.
According to authorities, Moses shot indiscriminately, wounding their 7 year old girl in the chest and their 6 year old boy in the pelvis. Father Filimon Lamas was killed shielding 3 of his small children from the rain of gunfire. Mother Gloria Jiminez was shot in both legs and the pelvis, hopping a face and running into the street to escape with her son. Her 4 year old son later died of his injuries.
The Lamas family had lived in their home for 8 years, and for 17 years, reports indicate Desmond Moses lived in the bungalow behind them. After years of living rent free, the landlord had evicted Moses. It is believed Moses mistakenly blamed the Lamas family for his eviction, prompting him to enter his neighbors’ house in a murderous rampage.
Community members and relatives of the family suggested that Moses had a reputation of instability. Family member Judy Castellanos described the man as “really weird” and a “dangerous recluse who would not let anyone into his home.” On scene, Lieutenant James Madia characterized the man as “kind of a hoarder or packrat.” (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/
