Emergency Preparedness Leads to Large Donation to Local Food bank

Nov. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- PROVO, Utah – The Community Action Services and Food Bank of Provo receives a generous donation of quick-cook meals thanks to the emergency preparations of others.

During National Preparedness Month in September, SurvivalBased.com committed to donating one meal for every $10 spent on emergency supplies through their website. Customers responded in a huge way, resulting in a donation of 4,320 meals.

“We are very grateful to SurvivalBased for their generosity,” said Dave Smith, food bank manager. “The holiday season is especially hard for many families and this donation will make a big difference in helping us serve the community.”

The meals are especially valuable to the food bank because of they are intended for emergencies, so they are designed with nutrition and shelf life in mind. While many of the items donated to the food bank are perishable, these meals can be reserved for times when donations are limited.
