-- Magento is a leading eCommerce solution used by many enterprise customers as a storefront to their products, however there are currently limited options to integrate Magento to SAP ECC (R/3). In the ERP market SAP is the dominant solution implemented from the smallest companies to largest Fortune 500 enterprises, however it is a complex environment with projects running in the millions to hundreds of millions for implementation.
Businesses are increasingly looking to lower expenditure and are using Magento as the eCommerce solution to reduce implementation and maintenance costs when compared to enterprise eCommerce solutions such as ATG and IBM WebSphere. This however leads to the issue that there are currently few options available for reliable, cost effective and internally supportable solutions for Magento to SAP integration.
The benefits of Magento to SAP integration include using SAP for Product Information Management (PIM), stock control, invoicing, order flow, accounting and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Existing solutions are from companies including eBridge using a cloud based platform and b2b2dot0 who provide bespoke and cloud based services. Cloud computing has received widespread praise however companies are still reluctant to outsource core data including accounting information for both security reasons and corporate responsibility.
Given these factors, eAppWare have released a Rapid Deployment solution for Magento to SAP integration covering core areas including SAP ECC, CRM, BI/BW, Business One and datasets including products, inventory, customer master and order data synchronization. eAppWare take a different approach to the other vendors in that they use a combination of custom developed, open source and commercial software applications to provide accurate and rapid deployment integration.
Using tools such as Pentaho and CloverETL as the foundation, custom connectors to Magento for data synchronization, commercial extensions including ProERPConn and SAP coded adjustments allows automated cross platform synchronization between solutions. Many companies are using enterprise tools such as Tibco and Informatica to perform ETL operations however the associated implementation time and expense involved do not lend themselves to the cost reductions being placed on businesses.
Having implemented middleware solutions from both technical and business perspectives in enterprise companies ranging from banking to retail, eAppWare are uniquely positioned to deploy cost effective solutions. Using the combination of custom, open source and commercial applications provides for rapid deployment allowing internal business and technical staff to optimize and maintain the solutions once implemented, ultimately reducing total cost of ownership.
