Follow on Google News | Pembrokeshire library and archives on the moveIn Spring 2013, a major project will get underway to redevelop the County Library at Haverfordwest.
By: Harrow Green Harrow Green, a specialist in moving libraries, museums and archives, has been appointed to manage the sequential packing and moving of all book stock and library materials (some 1900 linear metres),and the dismantling and erecting of existing library shelving. The contract was awarded following the submission of a competitive tender. Furniture fitters will form part of the team to ensure all library racking earmarked for moving is clearly identified prior to dismantling to ensure that it can be assembled swiftly in the new premises and stock unpacked and relocated. Library staff are working with Harrow Green to ensure continuity of service during the move. On the record The Pembrokeshire Record Office is also on track to move in to its new home on the former site of Prendergast Junior School in Haverfordwest at the end of this year. Work preparing for the move has been going on for several months at the Record Office - based in Haverfordwest Castle - while maintaining a public service for historical research. The relocation, also being managed by Harrow Green, will see the transfer of the County Archive, which fills over two and a half kilometres of shelving. The new building - which reflects a significant investment by Pembrokeshire County Council - will offer an increased level of service and significantly improved acclimatised facilities, including a larger, better equipped visitor space, rest area, better reprography facilities, archive conservation studio and a meeting/education room. Supporting administration and office personnel will also be relocated including, staff and furniture moves from two offices in Pembroke Dock. http://www.harrowgreen.com/ End
