Dallas Singer/Songwriter Debra Marie Cracks UK Soul Chart

Nov. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- Dallas (Nov. 19, 2012) – For the past few weeks, the United Kingdom Soul Chart has had a bit of Dallas flair to it.

Debra Marie and her mentor, fellow Dallas resident Tatiana “Ladymay” Mayfield, both appear on the popular UK soul music compilation for the week of Nov. 18.

Debra Marie’s latest CD, “Stanzas Of My Life,” sits at No. 26 for the week, while her mentor’s chart-topper, “A Portrait of Ladymay,” secured the No. 4 spot after holding down the #1 spot last week.

“Thrilled beyond words, grateful beyond measure, and living my life like it’s golden,” Debra Marie said. “I believe that the best is yet to be.

“What comes to mind at this very moment, ‘Share a smile, give openly, blessings rain down on me’! (lyrics penned to “Live”).

The Rockford, Ill., native said the top requests from her album songs, “Unconditional Love,” “Live,” and “Home.” The latter release is laced with words of love and anticipation of a woman awaiting the man who “makes her world go around.”

The music on the eight-track CD reflects the joys of finding love, the heartbreak of love that could have been, and surviving life’s trials. Reminiscent of the late Phyllis Hyman, the sultry songstress lends her alto to the up tempo, salsa feel of “Lover’s Holiday” and to “Live,” a chronicle of life events that inspire her to grasp the moment. Debra Marie sings, “Cancer, death, and heartbreak brought me to my knees, but still I rise and live my life with purpose.” The death she is referring to in the song is that of her beloved brother, Tim.

The UK Soul Chart is generated through worldwide airplay and CD sales. The chart recently partnered with Soul Brother Records, a music and record shop based in London. Soul Brother is one of the leading soul and jazz specialist music stores in the world.
