         Thackeray was an Indian politician, founder and also chief of the Shiv Sena. Shiv Sena is a right wing Hindu nationalist and Marathi ethnocentric. This party was active mainly in the state of Maharashtra. Thackeray’s followers called him the “Hindu hriday samraat” which means “emperor of Hindu Hearts”

         On 25th of July 2012, Thackeray was admitted to Lilayati Hospital’s intensive care unit in Mumbai, As he had the complaint of breathlessness. But unfortunately on 14th November, he stopped eating and was given continuous oxygen. In some parts of Mumbai, many shops were closed voluntarily seeking the risk of Thackeray’s health.

         At last on 17th November at “matoshree”, the personal doctors announced that Thackeray was dead, and his cardio-respiratory arrest at 15:33 local time. Entire Mumbai city came to virtual halt immediately after his soul passed away. Shops in and around the city was closed, while auto rickshaws and taxis also stayed still. The whole Maharashtra state was put on alert.

         “A divine avatar goes to heaven” was the head line print of the day. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who was called for “calm and sobriety” by the public, said that “he was a consummate communicator whose stature in the politics of Maharashtra was unique”.

         On 18th November, at Shivaji Park, his funnel was held. This was considered as a state funeral. Many VIPs had come to attend the funeral. Peoples all around India came in large numbers to take part. On that day, the Mumbai police commissioner Satyapal Singh said that he had appealed the people to remain calm and maintained law and order. He added that perfect arrangements were made to those VIPs who came from various parts of India. Thackeray’s body was wrapped in the tricolor flag after that the body was taken to a truck.

         Here in one case regarding his death, two girls were arrested by the police men, for their comment against full shutdown in Mumbai city on that day. These girls were arrested under the section 295A, for hurting religious sentiments. In that one girl was arrested for posting comment against the shutdown act, and another girl was arrested for liking that comment. The charge on those two girls was reduced and they were given the bail on surety of Rs 15,000 each.
