MovemberPI Gone Wild West at The Lighthouse in Subic Bay

Nov. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- The Lighthouse Marina Resort as a pioneer for environmental activities and health awareness campaigns celebrates MovemberPI – Western style at the 720 Bar on November 27, 2012 from 8pm onwards with the hopes of changing the face of men’s health. Drink specials paired with matching iconic moustaches are offered throughout November as fundraisers for the cause.

“This year, we hope to be quite vocal in our campaign through several ways, alongside a Subic leg, which includes a launch and culminating party in Manila. I wanted to make MovemberPI memorable in the minds and hearts of the patrons, and of course persuasive enough to encourage others to support either through their personal participation or through pledges”, explained Sam Miguel, a Subic-based teacher and “Mo Maestro” of MovemberPI.

It’s been barely 9 years since the inception of Movember moustaches in Australia, and it did not take long for it to evolve into a worldwide phenomenon. Stretching its clout from East to West, the noble movement has finally reached the Philippine Islands. With the birth of the Philippine chapter back in 2010 from its brainchild, Sam Miguel, the first MovemberPI event debuted at the 720 BAR of The Lighthouse and has been celebrated annually since then.

Every first of November, men dubbed as “Mo Bros” (supported by the women in their lives, also known as “Mo Sistas”) register in their respective country’s Movember website with a clean-shaven face and let their moustaches grow for the whole duration of the month. Thus, it has become customary for Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to commemorate their involvement through a party. This year's program at 720 BAR is based on the Wild West theme and it will consist of games, a smokin’ barbeque grill, live music, photo booth and awarding of the Miss Movember and Mr. Movember. Guests have the privilege of having their first two local beers discounted to 50% while Mo Bros and Mo Sistas in cowboy outfits are welcomed with a free bottle of local beer.

Three years later, and an exponentially growing number of participants, November has never been such an anticipated time of the year to dedicate oneself in growing a fine moustache. This enables them to walk the walk, talk the talk and grow the “MO” with the vision of raising awareness in men's health issues and funds to benefit prostate cancer research.
