Nov. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS – Nationally-recognized Boston Medical Center, ranked by U.S. News & World Report as high-performing in multiple medical categories, is set to train its medical coding staff with Barry Libman Inc.’s ICD-10 readiness course, Anatomy & Physiology for Coders.

With online flexibility and a thorough-yet-easily-digestible curriculum, the course has become used increasingly by national medical organizations, including Johns Hopkins Hospital, Lahey Clinic, Granite Healthcare Network, and Indian Health Service, to name a few. Anatomy & Physiology for Coders is structured to ground students in time for the looming mandatory transition to ICD-10 in 2014.

“ICD-10 will be the official coding standard before we know it,” said Diane Yanovitch, Boston Medical Center’s C.C.S. Coding Manager. “We chose Barry Libman Inc.’s A&P course because, in the extremely busy world of healthcare, delay is not an option. Anatomy & Physiology for Coders enables us to prepare our coders to be ready for the advent of ICD-10 in a reasonable time.”

Yanovitch added, “Our staff is always seeking improvement; the detailed and in-depth anatomy and physiology which is studied in this course will improve their skills and increase their readiness for the challenge of learning ICD-10.  Helping our coding staff improve their skills resonates with our goal to provide consistently excellent and accessible health services to all in need of care.”

Located in Boston’s historic South End neighborhood, Boston Medical Center is a private, not-for-profit, 496-bed, academic medical center and the primary teaching affiliate for Boston University School of Medicine. Consistent with its mission to provide the best in health care to all, Boston Medical Center is the largest safety net hospital in New England and reaches into the community as a founding partner of Boston HealthNet, a network of 15 community health centers through Boston serving more than a quarter million people annually.

Boston Medical Center has received several awards, with two of the most recent awards being the American Heart Association’s Heart Failure Gold Achievement Award and the Department of Health and Human Services’ Medal of Honor for Organ Donation. U.S. News & World Report ranks Boston Medical Center as high performing in multiple medical categories, some of which include cancer, diabetes and endocrinology, ear, nose and throat, neurology, and neurosurgery.
