Gurgaon, November 19, 2012: DLF Foundation, a social organization working for the empowerment of under-privileged communities launched the DLF LIFE Skill Development Programme last year. Under the Programme DLF Foundation launched the DLF LIFE Skill India Babu Jagjeewan Ram Vocational Training Institute in Pataudi in partnership with Laurus Edutech. Today, the Training Institute is launching short term employment linked courses which has a huge market demand.

The Centre is expected to bring forth many opportunities for school dropouts from the economically backward section of the society by providing them technical education for a very nominal and affordable fee in the Gurgaon region. The Centre offers courses in areas of Information Technology, Construction, Electronics and Services etc. Like every DLF centre, this Centre too has an industry partner so that the skill development program is aligned to industry needs and expectations.

The inaugural event was attended and praised by the dignitaries like Shri. R.K. Kataria, IAS Principal Secretary to Hon’ble Labour & Employment Minister Government of India, and Ambassador Prem Singh, Senior advisor DLF Foundation.

Present at the occasion Sh. R.K. Kataria, IAS Principal Secretary to Hon’ble Labour & Employment Minister Government of India said, “It is a commendable project undertaken by DLF Foundation to train a large chunk of the population and enable them to be job ready and self reliant. It is a great honor to be associated with this noble cause. It will be great if more corporate take such initiatives and fulfill their corporate social responsibilities.”

Speaking at the inaugural, Ambassador Prem Singh, , Senior advisor DLF Foundation said “This centre caters to students from under privileged backgrounds who may be academically weak, but still harbor aspirations of a better quality of life. Therefore, DLF Foundation has taken this excellent initiative to collaborate and open this centre to train monetarily-challenged but aspirationally-rich students, so they get the chance to learn and earn.  We hope that with the skills taught here they can paint the canvas of their future with colors of self-reliance and success.”

India is a developing nation and has been witnessing turbo-charged growth in industrialization, infrastructure, manufacturing, service sector and in other arenas. This has led to an all-time high demand for more and more skilled labor. There is great potential for Associate Degree, Diploma and Certificate holders undergoing technical training in Industrial training centres. Owing to the spiraling demand, DLF Foundation is confident that almost 100% of the trained technical people would get placed in Private, Public and Government sectors.
