Yeng, Jovit, Marcelito and Angeline win the hearts of Pinoys in TFC’s year-end concert
TFC brings together the best Filipino talents to the Middle East via ASAP Pinoy Champs Live in Abu Dhabi
According to Managing Director Edgardo Garcia, “TFC mounted ASAP Champs in Dubai as a way of thanking our loyal kapamilyas who have been with us through the times and what better way to show our gratitude than by ending the year with an impact - by giving our kababayans the best of Filipino talent.”
The petite and lovely ladies of the quartet not only dazzled in their signature tunes, but also tickled the audiences’ funny bones with relatively offbeat novelty hits such as the Spaghetti Song and Kiliti. Yeng has gone a long way from the girl who rose into fame with her composition Hawak Kamay. Today, she is more confident in her own skin, sporting her own unique style of rock star glamour. Young ladies look up to her not only for her talent but also for her image as a whole and Constantino certainly did not disappoint the multitude of young attendees during ASAP Pinoy Champs in Abu Dhabi.
Angeline is another singing champion who would not even disappoint the likes of her idol Regine Velasquez. Angeline belted the heart-stopping What Kind of Fool Am I which was apparently, just a warm up. She serenaded the huge 6,000 fans with her chart-toppers like Patuloy ang Pangarap – a song very close to her heart for a number of reasons. An emotional Angeline shared to the members of the press that she just achieved another dream of hers - to own a spacious automobile befitting her on-the-road lifestyle before she flew to Dubai.
The male crooners were a revelation that evening, pulling off rock songs like Laklak as if they have been doing it for years and cracking up jokes and impersonations of ABS-CBN News reporters like professional stand-up comedians. They were a force to reckon with, evident from the way the audience that night indulged in their cues.
Jovit seemed larger than life with his energetic and impassioned rendition of rock ballads including crowd favorite Faithfully, a Journey original. Hands were up high, waving to the tempo which fuelled the songster to entertain even more.
The darling of the crowd, however, as suggested by one standing ovation and numerous cheers was Pomoy. Even non-Filipinos who were present that night couldn’t help but be astonished with his vocal range. One could be heard exclaiming, “He is singing two voices!” with such bewilderment and awe. His winning piece from Pilipinas Got Talent days, The Prayer, sounded even more exhilarating, live. Even if the audience already knew how unique Marcelito’s singing style was, they were still amazed at every note he threw. When asked how different this experience was to him, he commended the warm acceptance and wild appreciation to their performances that were given by fans in Abu Dhabi.
The band which came all the way from Club 7 at Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel in Dubai, fired up the stage as the opening act of the show, setting the mood for the main event. The three-hour musical feat concluded with their rendition of rock singer Bamboo’s Noypi to which the crowd jumped and sang along. The foursome indeed showed versatility in their repertoire and more interesting characters other than what one would usually see on television. From children to teens, young professionals to grandparents, the concert goers all loved how wholesome the production was.
The Ambassador of the Philippines to the U.A.E. Grace Relucio Princesa, ABS-CBN award-winning anchor Ted Failon and Balitang Middle East correspondents were just a few of the notable personalities who were there to catch TFC’s traditional show of gratitude to the thousands of their kapamilyas in the Middle East.
The same evening also marked the official launch of TFC.tv, TFC’s newest and official online platform. It was highlighted by the Click Tayo music video which elicited loud cheers from the teens, especially the Kat-Niel fanatics (fans of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla).
ASAP Champs in Dubai is also part of TFC’s year-end offering along with the TFC Kabayan Serbisyo Fair 2012 held earlier in the day. The fair, TV Patrol and Balitang Middle East’s anniversary offering, brought together products, services and opportunities for OFs. Both the concert and the fair are part of TFC’s continued commitment to bring the best of Filipino information, entertainment, and service that will keep Filipinos connected to home.
The event was made possible by Wall Street Exchange and Nissan, in association with Toshiba, Knorr, Alicafe, SMDC, Sky Frieght forwarders. It was also brought by Lady’s Choice and Emami Fair and Handsome, and powered by Al Masaood Automobiles.
