A Miami Phenomenon Is Back: The Open House Dance!

The Open House Dance returns to Miami on the SECADA'S stage at MAGIC CITY CASINO 450 NW 37th AVE Miami, Fl. Dec. 8th, 2012 at 10:00 PM. Conceived and directed by Peter Fernandez, former lead singer of the legendary Miami bands COKE & The ANTIQUES, The Open House Dance offers Miamians the rare chance to hear and dance to the music that helped shape the sound of Miami.

The Open House Dance was the byproduct of a generation of thousands of teens coming of age during the 70's. Uniquely bi-cultural and bi-lingual, the Open House phenomenon was mostly a Cuban-American experience for a generation of Miamians whose lives were deeply impacted by growing up in two worlds. A generation bound by a common history and heritage that shaped their music and their lives — and even how the young girls danced with their chaperones in tow, not very far behind! Every weekend teens gathered in ballrooms and banquet halls around town
to dance to their favorite bands, COKE and The ANTIQUES. The music was fun to dance too and influenced by the great groups of the 70's like Chicago, Sly & The Family Stone and Santana. A fusion of Rock, Latin Funk and early Disco it often blended Spanish lyrics and rhythms with American songs.

On Dec 8th, at Magic City Casino 450 NW 37th AVE Miami, Fl. we will have the chance to re-unite with friends from our youthful past. A chance to attend the ultimate High School reunion for some and for others a chance to discover another era of our multi-faceted city. The Super Open House Dance Reunion with Peter Fernandez and his 8-piece band, with light show by Joe Electro and continuous dance music by Carlos Dj Sonic is an event not to be missed. For many, it will be nothing less than a chance to relive the happiest years of our lives.
