-- ■ Urological surgeon Rob Mason is based at Mount Stuart Hospital. Recently this year he returned to Kangando Hospital in Uganda with his wife.
Monday 24th September saw a fundraising coffee morning, at 9:30am in the Royal Torbay Yacht club. An impressive £2,500 was raised due to the fundraising efforts.
When in Uganda he offers urological surgery to patients for prostate diseases, such as urinary retention and prostate cancer.
“We know that there is a further unmet need, and hope to address this by not only planning this next trip and further trips, but also training the local surgeons in some of the surgical techniques which would be of benefit to their patients.” – Rob Mason
With help from the local team based in Uganda, Rob held a two week surgical camp to perform these operations. He helped to improve a substantial amount of lives and without his help and support none of this could have been possible. Let’s hope he can return every year, as his work can really make a difference! Visit ‘Ramsay’ for more information on the hospital and their services: //www.mountstuarthospital.co.uk/
