Ohana Records is an exploratory music program that focuses on music education through the formation of authentic student bands. Students learn to play several instruments, take part in original songwriting, and basic music recording. Mr. Jonathan Mitchell, their teacher, is a highly talented musician who was formerly signed with Atlantic Records. Mr. Mitchell acts as band manager to facilitate student collaboration on their song choices and writing, while assisting them in learning new instruments. This builds self-confidence and a strong stage presence, fosters teamwork and problem solving skills, and gives students a real-life experience as they take the stage and perform live at local venues.
