Nov. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- On November 17, the Green Market Pompano expects their biggest market to date with the launch of the first "Taste of the Market" event.  Event attendees can participate in a “Discovery Tour” of the market, sampling foods from each participating vendor and entering a raffle for a Green Market basket featuring foods found at the market. There is no cost to attend the event, and parking is free.

Pompano Beach Green Market is celebrating its 10th season with a new location and a growing excitement for the “Buy Local. Eat Fresh.” campaign.  "We have a million dollar location, for both our vendors and shoppers with plenty of parking and lots of room to grow", says Debbie Moore, Market Manager.  "We feel this new location provides a centrally convenient place for neighbors to gather, sample great foods, and buy the freshest local products in town.”

According to Moore, “One of the biggest challenges markets can face is the lack of quality vendors due to so many new markets popping up around town. We’re taking a different approach and not just looking for vendors but the best small family owned businesses and future entrepreneurs, giving them an opportunity to present their best to our community and start the foundation for a future business.”  Current vendors include locally harvested produce and seafood, pickles, olive oil, jams, preserves, local honey, delicious baked goods and breads, fresh flowers, gardening supplies, herbs, honey based skin products, homemade soaps and professionally trained artists creating beautiful jewelry and art for sale. You'll also find local restaurants and mobile vendors serving both breakfast and lunch in a fun atmosphere where pets are always welcome!

Many vendors are currently operating under the Cottage Food Industry Act, a State Statute passed in 2011 which allows someone with a great idea to make certain non-perishable items at home and bring them to local Green Markets to sell.  “We are very proud of our small local food vendors and do our utmost to support them," says Moore.  “Our motto isn’t just to provide them a space to sell their product, but to help them through the steps in creating a better business and more successful market experience.”
