Nov. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- HOUSTON (Nov. 15, 2012) — Houston Arts Alliance (http://www.houstonartsalliance.com/) (HAA) today announced 146 awards totaling $3,217,740 to Houston artists and organizations as part of its mission to enhance the quality of life and tourism in the Houston region by supporting and promoting the arts.

The HAA Grants program provides funding and technical assistance to support nonprofit arts organizations of all sizes as well as individual artists from artistic disciplines ranging from experimental visual arts and performance groups, to cultural organizations that reflect Houston’s diverse populations.

“HAA is pleased to enable artists and arts organizations to thrive by connecting the nonprofit arts to the larger creative industry, the community and government,” said Jonathon Glus, CEO of Houston Arts Alliance. “Houston’s vibrant arts community is one of the dynamic livability factors that draws tourists to our city.”

This round of HAA awards grants go to qualified arts and cultural organizations for both general operating support and arts projects. Individual artists receive awards through the Individual Artist New Works Fellowship Program which supports the development and presentation of new artistic works by local Houston artists to help advance Houston's reputation as a vibrant creative hub and a destination for cultural tourism.

HAA distributes grants supporting arts creation, production, marketing and infrastructure throughout the year. Guidelines for future funding can be found at www.houstonartsalliance.com/grants/.
