(Denver Colorado, November 15, 2012): December 5th is International Volunteer Day! Every week, a rescued dog and her handler, Dina Mauro volunteer at Swedish Medical Center in Denver teaching others the value of giving back.

Denver area resident and registered animal-assisted interaction team, Dina Mauro and her rescued dog Tia, visit patients and staff at Swedish Medical Center touching lives and bringing much needed inspiration.

In an effort to inspire others to volunteer, Dina Mauro has written a guide titled, A Dose of Tia (http://www.dinamauro.com/), which recounts a rescued dog’s inspirational visits at Swedish Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. Through the lens of volunteerism, this registered team challenges readers to see the world with fresh eyes, challenge one’s perspective, and take action.

“A personal and enlightening glimpse into how giving of yourself to help others is rewarded in unexpected ways through the journey of self-discovery and reflection. This book will speak to your heart and stir you to revisit what really matters in life.“  Diana M. McQuarrie, MSOL / Executive Director |Denver Pet Partners

How does one create an exceptional life? Author, Dina Mauro sets out to answer this question in the unlikeliest of places, Swedish Medical Center. A Dose of Tia (http://www.dinamauro.com/) explores love, life, and healing. As the human member of her registered team, Mauro recounts her experiences at the hospital in this journal-style memoir with humor and candor, providing life lessons gleaned along the way.

Tia, an English Pointer, was minutes away from being euthanized before she was rescued four years ago.

“I guess you could say that a rescued dog rescues patients and staff at the hospital. Tia is now giving back to the very species that at one time had no use for her,” explains author and publisher, Dina Mauro.

Dina and her dog Tia are available for interviews and are experienced in front of the camera.
