Nov. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Internationally published author Sharon E. Cathcart's first novelette, "The Rock Star in the Mirror (or, How David Bowie Ruined My Life)," has been nominated for best short story and best cover in the 2013 Global eBook Awards.

"The Rock Star in the Mirror" is the story of small-town Oregon guy Joe, who is in love with a lady named Lynnie.  Lynnie, in turn, has a huge crush on David Bowie.  Joe will do just about anything to get Lynnie's attention, but his choices turn out to have unexpected consequences.

A dark comedy set in the Oregon coastal town of Rockaway Beach, "The Rock Star in the Mirror" is Cathcart's first contemporary tale.

"It's unlike anything vzyno I've ever written," Cathcart stated.  "It is also one of the most fun pieces I've worked on."

An Oregon native, Cathcart draws on scenes from her youth with locations ranging from Brown's Camp to Seattle.

Cathcart shares the honors with pin-up artist James Courtney, who designed the award-nominated jacket art.
