Free Career and Job-Hunting Support Programme for East London Graduates

Are you a recent graduate and still looking for employment? If so, the City Business Library is running a Graduate Employment Programme to help you in your search for permanent employment.

Do you live in one of the following boroughs:

City of London; Barking & Dagenham; Hackney; Havering; Newham; Redbridge; Tower Hamlets; Waltham Forest?

If so, the City Business Library is running a Graduate Employment Programme to help you in your search for sustained employment.

The Programme is completely FREE to attend, is being delivered by some of the country' top career coaches and consultants and is being funded by Jobcentre Plus to tackle youth unemployment in the capital.

What the programme covers:

Week 1: Employability & Enterprise workshop.

This interactive seminar will help you gain an understanding into the relationship between companies and their customers, what managers are really looking for in an employee, the essence of customer service and a workable model to help you fine-tune your business mind-set.

Week 2: CVs.  

Gary Brown from http://thesymmetrygroup.com will give you the Secret to a Winning CV. Just one of the 'Top Ten Secrets to finding the Right Job, Right Now' - the title of Gary's latest book from the Workforce Revolution (http://thesymmetrygroup.com/wp/candidates/job-hunter-revo...) series, Gary will reveal:

What it is that Employers  really want and how does this effect what your focus is on your CV?  Gary will show participants how to get their CV noticed, get it read and get results.

There will also be the opportunity to have a 121 meeting with Gary Brown to look at and revise their CV.

Week 3: Finding potential employers.  

Hands-on training of the City Business Library’s electronic resources, helping you locate and contact potential employers.   You will be able to create a list of companies by location, industry, size (including those that have a growth in number of employees).

Week 4:  Preparing for interview Part I.

The speaker will help you develop techniques to effectively prepare for those all-important interviews. With practical guidance on how to present yourself – everything from your handshake to your shoes – and excellent tips on speaking and giving presentations; you will be able to walk into any interview with confidence.

Week 5: Preparing for interview Part II – practice.  

Gain experience and practice techniques learned in Week 4

Spaces are limited so book your place to avoid disappointment.

Each session lasts 3 hours, 13:00-16:00, (tea/coffee will be provided) and runs on the same day of the week for 5 consecutive weeks.

The Start date for each Programme is:

15th November 2012 – Group 1 – fully booked

16th November 2012 – Group 2 – fully booked

10th January 2013 – Group 3

11th January 2013 – Group 4

21st February 2013 – Group 5

22nd February 2013 – Group 6
