Christine Reyes and Aiza Seguerra surprise TFC subscribers in recent visit to Singapore
Like true family, Kapamilya stars bring a taste of home to Pinoy couple in the Lion City
Since 2008, Joseph and Lilybeth have been subscribers of TFC via StarHub Cable TV. According to Lilybeth, as early as 2007 when the couple just left the Philippines to work in Singapore, they were already watching their favorite TFC shows through their housemate’s subscription. When their mother and the couple’s three kids arrived in 2008, they decided to subscribe on their own. The Sison couple chose TFC because they want to watch its entertaining shows and also because they want to be updated with the latest happenings in the Philippines.
Through TFC, Joseph and Lilybeth have indeed been in touch with home and their culture even while they are busy leading their lives as migrants in the Lion City. Through StarHub Cable TV, TFC has been bringing ABS-CBN’s quality, homegrown shows that have been giving subscribers like Joseph and Lilybeth, a slice of life in the Philippines, in Singapore. This is the reason why Joseph and Lilybeth have continued to stay with TFC for the last five years.
Beyond news programs, the couple and the entire family have become avid fans of the teleseryes including the recently concluded hit series Walang Hanggan which their mother watched every day. Lilybeth is on the other hand, a fan of ASAP 2012.
The customer visit was organized by TFC and StarHub TV. Joseph and Lilybeth were chosen as the media networks’ way of thanking them for their loyalty.
Part of their partnership is to mount the couple’s favorite show ASAP 2012 in Singapore at the Max Pavillion last October 14. Aiza and Christine made this side trip just to share their time with Joseph and Lilybeth. Joseph is also, admittedly, an avid ASAP 2012 fan and meeting Aiza and Christine in person is one of the, if not the biggest surprise of his life. The shock was evident on his face. “We really felt excited when we saw a star visiting our house “, gushed Joseph. “Aiza was so cool and Christine was so nice.”
Although Joseph works in the I.T. industry and is mostly glued to his computer, he is a music-lover as well. Joseph asked Aiza to sign his electric guitar and did not miss the chance to be photographed with Christine.
Aiza admits that while this is not her first time in Singapore (she previously performed in the musical Avenue Q’s Singapore leg), she finds it amusing that Filipinos have remained visible around the Lion City and welcoming like Joseph. “Everywhere you look, everywhere you go, there’s a Filipino who never fails to greet you kabayan!”
“I am excited coming from Europe and I look forward to be part of ASAP in Singapore and to see more of our kapamilyas.”
As part of their win, Joseph and Lilybeth got to watch the ASAP Live in Singapore with the best view in the house. In December, the TFC team will tour Joseph and Lilybeth around the ABS-CBN Corporation studios for a better appreciation of the network that they watch.
While Joseph’s family is in Singapore already, Lilybeth still feels a need to visit her motherland. But while in Singapore she seeks a connection to home. “My family is in the Philippines and because of TFC I know what's happening in the Philippines – how they are and how their life is like.”
The visit may have been a surprise but there was no guessing game in the end. Joseph and Lilybeth’s fondness for their favorite stars and attachment and connection to the Philippines via TFC was evident.
