Follow on Google News | One World Trekking To Run A 60th Anniversary Everest Base Camp TrekAdmirers of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay will be able to follow in his footsteps of their first historic conquest of the world’s highest mountain.
This special one-off trek will follow the traditional expedition route to Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal from May 19 to June 5, 2013. Starting in the famous mountain village of Lukla, this moderately-challenging trek gradually winds its way through small Sherpa villages, en route to the base camp. The One World Trekking group plans to spend the day and night of May 29, the same day that Hillary and Norgay reached the top of Everest in 1953, for a 60th Anniversary celebration. This special 18-day trek, which costs $3,360 per person, includes the Lukla flights, all accommodation and meals. The itinerary also includes the optional hike to the 18,188-foot summit of the viewpoint peak of Kala Pattar.
