National Magazine Honors Parr Lumber With Excellence Award
ProSales magazine, a leading national lumber publication, announced Parr Lumber is the 2012 winner of the magazine’s annual Excellence Award, one of the most prestigious awards given in the building supply industry.
The PROSALES Excellence Awards honor outstanding achievements in construction supply in showroom design, facility design, technology, marketing and customer service, advertising, and websites. The awards program celebrates business leaders whose creativity and ingenuity have not only improved and reinvigorated their own companies, but also set new benchmarks for service in the entire industry.
A panel of four independent judges awarded Hillsboro-based Parr Lumber with the Merit Award for Marketing for the company’s innovative “Weekend Warriors” radio program. The show features two longtime Parr Lumber employees, Tony Cookston, the manager of the companies Forest Grove location and Corey Valdez, outside salesperson at the West Linn location. The duo provides an entertaining two hour program each Saturday on Portland, Oregon radio station KPAM (AM 860). Each week Tony and Corey bring on expert guests and answer questions from listeners who are taking on varying home improvement advice.
“Lots of building material dealers nationwide seek to add the robust do-it-yourselfer to their usual customer mix of professional builders and remodelers,”
The 2012 Excellence Awards winners, locations and categories are:

“Our marketing team felt a show like this would be a great exposure for our company and they were right. Little did we know that we had two stars among us in Tony and Corey. They have done an outstanding job with the show and they certainly have developed a nice following. We are honored by the recognition by ProSales Magazine, it’s a great honor in our industry, said David Hamill, Chief Executive Officer of Parr Lumber.
