Care Home Manager of the Year Award

Nov. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Alison Bedford of Peregrine House in Whitby has won the coveted title of Care Home Registered Manager of the Year at the Great Yorkshire & Humberside Care Awards.

Having been shortlisted three times at the awards before, Alison was no stranger to the finals, held this year at The National Railway Museum in York.

"Although it is a great personal achievement for myself it is a pleasure to accept the award for the whole team at Peregrine House, they all work extremely hard"

         Alison has been at Peregrine House since 1999.  She began work in the kitchen and has worked her way up through the home, training on the job and mastering each role to become Manager in 2003.  Her exceptional caring and organisational skills have helped to earn Peregrine House its own string of accolades; an Investors in People Gold Award, Excellent and Three Star rating from the Care Quality Commission and is a Dignity in Care Champion.

As Manager, Alison is utterly dedicated to guaranteeing the residents of Peregrine House are happy and well cared for.  She instigated the home’s philosophy of care, which is to treat the residents in the same way that they would look after a member of their own family. She ensures the whole team has the training and resources to achieve this objective consistently and to a particularly high standard.

Along the way Alison has acquired Excellent Awards and their associated three stars, the Investors in People GOLD Award as well as being a finalist before at the Care Awards.

Having secured the regional title, Alison will now go through to the national finals on 20th April 2013 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Dr. Kevin O’Sullivan who, with his wife Teresa, owns Peregrine House and has been both employer and mentor to Alison, said “I am over the moon that Alison has been awarded Care Home Registered Manager of the Year for this region, which encompasses 1631 care homes.  It is a tremendous achievement that is a just reward for Alison’s dedication.”
