Sussex drivers need to be more prepared on the road this winter

Nov. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Conducted by motoring specialists Goldsmith & Allcorn of Heathfield and Uckfield, the poll reveals that 72% of respondents have not prepared their car yet for the forthcoming months, with a staggering 89% saying they haven’t yet checked their anti-freeze, oil or tyre treads.

Ninety-two per cent claim not to own snow socks or snow chains, with eight out of ten surveyed driving two-wheel drives.

And women are the worst offenders, with majority saying that when they do get round to getting their car ready then it is left to their partner or relative to give it the once over.

Trevor Goldsmith, Managing Director of Goldsmith & Allcorn, commented: “With some areas of the South West experiencing snowfall at the weekend, we need to ensure that people in this area are as ready as they can be when it comes to being on the roads during the cold snap.  Small, practical steps taken, can make a big difference and even save lives.”

Trevor goes on to say: “An ice scraper, de-icer and a hazard triangle were the top three items dwellers in Sussex say they carry in their vehicles this time of year, but we also advise that torches, first aid kits, penknives, whistles and small shovels are carried in cars too.”

Goldsmith & Allcorn, also a Vauxhall Motors retailer, will be giving members of the public demonstrations on how to prepare your car for the winter at its Uckfield branch at the start of its ‘Big Event’ weekend on Friday 16 November.
