Longtime Centennial Campus Partnership Specialist Passes Away

Sue Cross, Centennial Campus's longtime partner services specialist, died recently after being struck by a truck in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. She was 55.

Nov. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Sue Cross, Centennial Campus's longtime partner services specialist, died recently after being struck by a truck in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. She was 55.

Cross had recently retired from NC State since working at the university beginning in 1973. In addition to her work with the Centennial Campus Partnership Office, she also worked in the Department of Forestry, the CALS Dean's Office, Friends of the College Concert Series, and the Talley Student Center and Arts Program.

In her role on Centennial Campus, she created numerous community-building programs, including the Executive Breakfast Club, Lunch and Learn the weekly Farmer's Market in the summer. She also was instrumental in bringing a variety of health services to Centennial, including mobile mammography, bloodmobiles, Weight Watchers @ Work, and heart and vascular screenings. She was the blood drive coordinator of the year for Rex Blood Services in 2005.

She is survived by her husband, Robbie, and her two children, Erin and Travis.

"On behalf of the Centennial Campus and NC State communities, I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to the Cross family," said Dennis Kekas, associate vice chancellor of the Centennial Campus Partnership Office. "Sue was a shining light on Centennial Campus, always ready with a smile and always willing to do whatever was needed to get the job done. We will miss her in so many ways."
