The US Department of Energy awarded Myriant with a $50-million grant in December 2009, and the US Department of Agriculture chose Myriant as the first renewable chemicals plant to be awarded a loan guarantee. The money has already helped create over fifty permanent jobs, as well as two-hundred and fifty construction jobs in Lake Providence. Chemicals produced include bio-succinic acid and other bio-based products that integrate easily into existing processes and perform equal to or better than petroleum-based chemicals.
