Follow on Google News | Christmas Tree farm launches poetry competitionA Christmas Tree farm has launched its first festive poetry competition giving East Sussex youngsters the chance to win prizes for themselves and their school.
By: Blueberry PR Two lucky winners will each win a box of books for their school courtesy of book company Usborne Children’s Books, a tree for their school and a £25 shopping voucher for themselves. The competition will be judged by poet Alice Allen. Alice said: “This is the farm’s first ever creative writing competition and I’m really excited to see what the children produce. I hope the entries are imaginative, celebratory and feature a Christmas Tree in an interesting way. We are hoping the competition will get children thinking about how Christmas Trees are grown and the historic role they play in our festivities.” Winners will be announced on 10th December via facebook with the winners being invited to recite their poems at the Farm’s annual Christmas carol concert. The carol concert will help raise money for the Spinal Injuries Association, and will take place on December 12th with Christmas carols being sung by Catsfield Primary School children. Spiced apple juice or cider and mince pies will be served. The Spinal Injuries Association is a charity close to Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm owner Clive Collins’ heart as he lost the use of his legs after falling from a tree while working as a forester. Clive said: “The Spinal Injuries Association is a superb organisation and provides information and support to people with spinal injuries. I am really pleased to be helping the charity in this small way.” The competition has two categories, one for those aged between 4 and 7 years and one for those aged between 8 and 11 years.
