 Christian Clothing - More Than A Fashion Statement?Christian Clothing has become more and more popular, but it still has not joined the ranks of elite fashion brands, why is that? Should we even want to be in that category as a Christian Clothing line?
First I would like to say welcome to this post, I decided to start asking you, “the movement”, various questions not just related to Christian clothing but related to Christianity entirely. In today’s post we will in fact be talking about Christian Clothing and why what we wear should be about more than just a personal fashion statement, but not necessarily a reason to wear something that isn't considered fashionable. Did you know that a graphic T-shirt will be read as many as 3,000 times? A survey of Christian T-shirt wearers revealed 98% wear them to share their faith, and nearly 50% say they've been able to share Christ with an unbeliever because of a shirt’s message. One out of fourteen report having helped an unbeliever come to know Christ after having a conversation that began because they wore a Christian T-shirt. Those are pretty Powerful stats! What do you look for in your Christian T-Shirt before buying it? My answer: __ I look for how it fits on my body type, and my personal style, but most importantly I want it to serve a purpose greater than a fashion statement. How will it spark a conversation with a non believer, or maybe even encourage a believer who is struggling to stay on the Narrow Road! 2. Do you feel Christian fashion is less “Fashionable” My Answer: _YES, when I first started the line it was one thing I noticed, there were some pretty good lines out there, but why aren't we as popular? There are over 100 million self proclaimed Christians in the US, why are we not selling anywhere near the amount the big name brands are? I think fashion can be a factor in choosing to wear something, just not to the point of narcissism. I think we should feel comfortable with what we are wearing but should not wear things because of it’s popularity or high price tag. I also believe if the clothing resembles a fashion style or look ( without compromising on morals) it may make the passer buy recognize it more and pay more attention, which could open more doors to sharing Christ. 3. Is there a “right” way or a “wrong” way to get a message across on a Christian Shirt or Accessory? My Answer: __ ABSOLUTELY! I have seen Christian Clothing lines actually use abbreviations for curse words to draw your eye to the shirt, but this tactic makes you think of the curse words, which can easily be a tumbling block. I have also seen shirts with things such as “Abortion Is Murder” now, I am always there to stand up and stand firm in my support of innocent life, however I think there are better platforms than putting something like that on a t-shirt. I am very confident that type of tactic does more harm than good, and will turn people away rather than bring them in to a place of open conversation. Ok, I will leave it a three questions, but to wrap things up – Wearing Christian Clothing is ultimately up to you. I choose to wear Christian Clothing because I want to always point to Jesus and I can’t really do that just walking down the street in a $60 affliction shirt it's not like Christians have a glowing sign above them as they walk :)!
