1,000 Pedigreed Cats to Compete in the Largest Show in North America!

Nov. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- Columbus, OH)-November 11, 2012 More than one thousand pedigreed cats will be vying for the title of Best in Show at the second Annual Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) World Championship Cat Show, which takes place November 17-18 in Columbus, Ohio at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, Hall D.  Sponsored with Royal Canin (http://www.royalcanin.us/), this two-day event showcases more than 1,000 felines representing 42 breeds.  The CFA/Royal Canin World Championship Cat Show (http://www.cfablog.org/) is the largest pedigreed cat show in the Western Hemisphere and this global event will find cat fanciers from North and South America, Europe, Japan and Bermuda competing to earn a place in cat show history.

“We anticipate the CFA/Royal Canin World Championship Cat Show to be one of the biggest events of the year in the cat fancy,” said Jerry Hamza, CFA President.  “It will be a truly amazing sight to see 1,000 pedigreed cats from all over the world under one roof and competing for Best of the Best in Show.  There will be plenty of activities for the whole family to participate in and enjoy - from shopping the meow-mall with over 80 vendors for feline enthusiast including cat toys, grooming tools, mouse pads, cat trees, jewelry and more. Guided tours through the show hall, to educational seminars presenting talks on “Origins of the Domestic Cat and History of Breeds,” or “Do You Have A Star at Home – Showing YOUR Household Pet” and much more.” There will be many shelter and rescue cats and kittens from local shelters that will be present and available for adoption.

Watch Feline Agility where cats’ athletic prowess running the time scored feline agility course – you will see the cats weave through poles and jump through hoops in amazing record times. The cat with the fastest time will receive the top award on Sunday, just before Best In Show is presented.

Syndicated cartoon character, Garfield, CFA’s official Spokescat, will be on hand throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday to meet and greet visitors of all ages.  Visitors are encouraged to bring a camera and have their picture taken with Garfield.

Two separate shows with 500 cats per show will take place simultaneously in a total of 20 competitive judging rings.  Judges will evaluate the feline contestants in Kitten, Championship and Premiership (altered cats) categories.  The event will culminate on Sunday afternoon as one cat is awarded the top honor of Best of the Best in Show.
