HeartPlace Adopts Emerge Clinical Decision Support for 25 Hospitals, 31 Clinics
Emerge Clinical Solutions, the creator of premier clinical decision support software, today announced HeartPlace is adapting its software system in 31 clinics throughout the Dallas and Fort Worth areas.
HeartPlace is the largest independent cardiology group in the United States and the largest cardiology group in the country to use electronic medicals records. HeartPlace has been using Nextgen for 8 years; the group implemented the technology long before most medical practices were open to electronic recordkeeping.
“Emerge’s support suite was a clear choice because it merges seamlessly with any electronic medical records system, particularly Nextgen. The software helps doctors do their jobs more efficiently, allowing them to have raised awareness of frequently missed diagnoses and implement appropriate, evidence-based care paths and diagnostic testing,” said Dr. Ken Johnson, HeartPlace Chief Strategy Officer.
Emerge runs comprehensive patient data through a unique agnostic algorithm that is adept at analyzing patients who are traditionally more difficult to diagnose, including women and certain minorities.
Emerge’s clinical decision support streamlines the diagnosis process and has been proven to increase identification of certain cardiac diseases by as much as 300 percent. When running a patient’s data and complete medical history through its patented algorithm, the software makes more than 8,000 calculations in seconds to achieve a precise diagnosis and define a detailed clinical pathway that leads to improved, evidence-based clinical decision making.
“Electronic medical records are no longer a dream for the future. They’re a reality that patients are beginning to demand, and clinical decision support is a natural partnership with these systems. Emerge helps doctors make a clearer, more refined diagnosis and puts decades of medical knowledge at their fingertips. We’re helping great doctors make each patient interaction even more excellent,” said Scott Finfer, Emerge CEO.
HeartPlace treats thousands of Texans every year and specializes in a variety of cardiac issues including thoracic surgery, congestive heart failure, electrophysiology, general and preventative cardiology, interventional cardiology, and vascular and endovascular medicine.
By adopting Emerge, HeartPlace joins several other major cardiology practices that are ahead of the medical technology curve. Cardiology Associates of Northern Mississippi, a leading regional health practice, successfully integrated Emerge with its GE Healthcare Centricity records system in 2011. The nationally renowned Oklahoma Heart Hospital adopted the system in August 2012.
“HeartPlace is an incredibly well respected cardiology group whose physicians regularly win awards and are recognized by the community, major publications, and their peers. It’s an honor to work with these doctors and help them do their jobs with more ease and efficiency so they can focus on their patients. We look forward to making both the doctor and patient experiences more fulfilling,”
