Tavern Comedy Show to Host Fundraiser for Aurora Theatre Victim
On Sunday, Nov. 11th, the weekly "Happy Fun Time Comedy Show" at Rumpy's Tavern in Lenox, Mass will host a comedy show-fundraiser for a fellow comic, Caleb Medley, wounded at the Aurora Theatre shooting on July 20th.
Show host Thomas Attila Lewis says, “The mass shooting on July 20th in Colorado was horrific enough, but to find out that one of the victims was a stand-up comedian who was just getting started, performing at shows very much like the one we put on every week at Rumpy's, really hit home. Getting up on stage to perform the material you wrote is a tough task and it creates a real sense of community among those that undertake the challenge, so it was easy to ask this community to step up and help out one of their own. It's great knowing that the funds we raise will help Caleb's immediate needs as well as those of his infant son, who was born just 2 days after Caleb was shot.”
Caleb Medley was struck in the face by gunfire during the shooting that took place at the opening of “The Dark Knight Rises.” He survived, but has “lost his right eye, and has some brain damage and doctors have put him in a medically induced coma.” (Supportcaleb.com)
On Sun. Nov. 11th, the Happy Fun Time Comedy Show will pass around a “popcorn box” to collect any donations in support of Caleb Medley. The show will feature three comics: Tony Rogers, from Albany; Nick Caron, from Northampton;
