Weston Group named partner of EE to supply 4G and superfast broadband
Telecomms company the Weston Group has been selected as a direct business partner of EE, the parent of Orange and T-Mobile, to supply its new superfast fibre broadband and 4G mobile services.
The Leeds-based company is one of only a handful across the country to be awarded the rights to sell the UK’s first 4G service, which is being referred to as 4GEE, along with fibre broadband, both of which launch on Tuesday October 30.
4G typically has speeds five times faster than the current 3G, while the new fixed-line fibre service can give speeds on average 10 times faster than today’s standard broadband.
Gary Dale, general manager of the Weston Group, said: “There isn’t a business anywhere that isn’t interested in tools and services that help employees become more productive and efficient; and 4G and fibre broadband will assist medium, public sector and corporate customers achieve just that.
“With the joint power of fibre broadband and 4G, employees can quickly download or upload large files from anywhere, access email and conduct HD video calls, helping to boost productivity. Employees can have instant internet access and work the way they want, whether they’re working in an office, from home, or on the move.
“We are proud to be helping to pioneer the rollout of 4G and fibre broadband in the UK which will see us deliver next-generation services backed by our award-winning customer service.”
The Weston Group will also be offering a simple process for Orange and T-Mobile customers who’ve already purchased a 4G ready handset, to swap to 4G.
When 4G is not available customers will automatically “jump” across to the EE 3G network, which is the UK’s most comprehensive.
Leeds and Sheffield are among 10 cities where 4G and fibre broadband will be available from 30 October, with Hull coming on-stream by the end of the year.
It is expected that EE’s 4G and fibre broadband will be available to 98 per cent of the country by the end of 2014.
